This
Warden message is being issued to alert U.S. citizens in St. Petersburg,
Russia that a demonstration is scheduled to take place at Pionerskaya
Square by the Theater of Young Viewers (TYUZ) near the Pushkinskaya
Metro at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2007.
There are
also several marches scheduled for Tuesday,
May 1 (May Day holiday) beginning at
approximately 10:30 a.m. Demonstrators plan to march in the downtown
area of St. Petersburg.
Some
public disorder is possible. The U. S. Consulate General in St.
Petersburg recommends that Americans avoid large crowds in the downtown
area during the time of the scheduled demonstrations. We advise
Americans to remain vigilant, use discretion and remain aware of their
surroundings when attending public gatherings.
